General items – under $800

Separate items – Quantity and amount below (separate calculation)

1. Alcohol – 2 bottles or less (total 2L or less, less than $400)

2. Cigarettes – 200 cigarettes (1 carton)

3. Perfume – 60ml or less

First, the duty-free limit for overseas travelers can be compared with the duty-free limit based on the price of goods purchased overseas, including the duty-free shop visited upon departure. If you enter the duty-free shop without calculating the purchase amount and the total purchase amount exceeds $800, you may be caught by customs upon entry and pay taxes to customs.

In the case of separate items such as alcohol and cigarettes, this amount is calculated separately when adding up the price of general items. Even if you purchase $800 of general goods and an additional $400 of alcohol, it is considered a separate item and is eligible for tax exemption.
